June 29 -- New Balance CanAm Boston I High Performance
Megumi Tanaka's 31:42.74 win in the special invitational women's 10,000 over countrywoman Kazue Ogoshi's 31:46.31 highlighted a great night of competitive racing at Waltham HS.  NCAA champ Otukile Lekote led wire to wire to win the men's 800 in 1:47.48, while US World XC Team member Sarah Hann raced away to win the women's 1500 in 4:21.70.  Other winners included Heather Hennigar (800 2:07.96), Ray Weeden (1500 3:44.58), and NCAA D-3 XC/5000/10,000 champ J.B. Haglund (14:32.18).

July 2 -- New Balance CanAm Boston II High Performance
Japan's Kazue Ogoshi narrowly missed the 3000 meet standard with her 9:08.92 effort, ahead of countrywomen's Kumi Tanabe's 9:15.95.  Dave Davis took the men's 3000 over the final lap, winning in 8:16.05.  Canadian Sarah Dillabaugh (4:19.67) and American Chad Johnson (3:44.23) won the women's and men's 1500 respectively, while the Farm Team's Chantee Earl (2:04.89) and Bryan Woodward (1:50.54) took the half-miles.

July 6 -- New Balance Maine Distance Festival
Chantee Earl shatters the meet record in the women's 800 with a 2:00.26, the 2nd fastest 800 ever in the CanAm Circuit, while Otukile Lekote defends his 800 title here with a 1:46.02 wire-to-wire win.  Ray Hughes (8:33.49) sprinted away from Jared Cordes (8:35.25) on the final straight to win the steeplechase.  Japan's Megumi Tanka (15:20.97) and Kazue Ogoshi (15:22.33) repeated their 1-2 finish from the 10k at Boston I in the 5000 here, while Kenya's Patrick Nthiwa lowered the meet record in the men's 5000 to 13:41.65.  NCAA champ Lena Nilsson sprinted away from the field with 250m remaining in the 1500 to notch a win in 4:09.89, while Canada's Graham Hood stole the mile in 3:57.98.

July 9 -- Les Internationaux de Demi-Dond de Montreal #1
Despite battling gusting winds all night long, Otukile Lekote, Jesse Strutzel, and Kelly MacDonald all shattered meet records at the fourth stop on the CanAm 2002 Circuit.  Lekote recorded the 2nd fastest ever CanAm 800 with his 1:45.58 wire-to-wire win.  Strutzel surprised the field in the metric mile to lead two others under the old meet standard with his 3:42.45 effort.  MacDonald notched a meet and CanAm Circuit best with her 10:07.00 performance.  Chantee Earl (800 2:04.50), Priscilla Hein (1500 4:19.09), and Masakazu Fujiwara (10,000 29:23.67) each won their respective races.

July 12 -- Les Internationaux de Demi-Dond de Montreal #2
Japan's Miwako Yamanaka (15:29.91) and Kazue Ogoshi (15:30.03) battled in the women's 5000 on a windy night at Centre Claude Robillard, while Otukile Lekote (1:46.49) and Chantee Earl (2:05.76) each notched their 4th half-mile title of CanAm 2002.  Canadian national champ Emilie Mondor (4:18.51) powered away in the women's 1500, while Canadian national record holder Kevin Sullivan (3:43.58) had his hands full holding off his protegee Nate Brannen (3:43.64).  Canadian record holder Jeff Schiebler (13:55.64) took the men's 5000, while Ian Conner (8:50.90) won the steeple.

June 30 -- New Balance CanAm Boston I Elite Meet
Thunderstorms threatened the meet early as storms rolled through the region, but after a 1 hour delay the athletes stepped on the track. Akiko Kawashima out dueled countrywoman Ikuko Tamura 9:09.57 to 9:10.13 in the women's 3000, while Peter Sherry took the men's in 8:03.74.  Alexis Sharangabo set a new meet record in the men's 1500 with a 3:40.86, while Rebecca Donahue won the women's in 4:20.81.  Nicole Teter took the women's 800 in 2:03.62, while Kevin Elliot took the men's race in 1:49.00.

July 3 -- New Balance CanAm Boston II Elite Meet
Jen Toomey, 3rd in the recent USATF 800, clinched the Boston High Performance Grand Prix title with a runner-up performance in the 1500.  Toomey ran 4:17.05, behind Nicole Jefferson (4:16.67).  Other event winners include: Lubert Lewis (1:48.26 800), Nicole Teter (2:04.13 800), Brian Baker (3:44.91 1500), Kristin Chisum (9:17.13 3000), and Michitane Noda (8:09.02 3000).

July 7 -- New Balance Maine Distance Festival
Jen Toomey surged into the lead in the 800 with about 550 meters to go and held on to win in a new meet record 2:01.95. NCAA 800 champ Otukile Lekote wired the men's field, winning in1:46.57.  Japan seized the top three places in the women's 5000, with Akiko Kawashima winning in 15:27.93 ahead of countrywomen Yuko Manabe (15:29.47) and Kumi Tanabe (15:48.61).  Mark Croghan left the men's steeple field behind with an easy 8:26.14 victory, while Shadrack Kosgei ran down Andre Williams over the final lap to win the 5000 in a meet record 13:42.48 (Williams ran 13:42.94).  Collette Liss and Mary Jane Harrelson broke away from the field and dueled all the way to the finish, with Liss getting the nod over Harrelson 4:09.10 to 4:09.12.  Clay Schwabe (US Army) sprinted past Jason Lunn at the finish to win the mile 3:58.91 to 3:59.01.  In the developmental events, Geoff Getz (Greater Lowell TC; 1:53.90) and Jeff Paterno (Reebok Boston; 4:12.04) won the 800 and mile respectively.  Croghan and Liss win the men's and women's athlete of the meet honors based on top performances according to the IAAF Scoring Tables of Athletics (see top 10 men and women listed at bottom of results page).

July 10 -- McGill International Distance Classic
New Meet record in the men's 800m by Otukile Lekote from Botswana (1:44.47). Strong performances by Nicole Teter (2:01.50), Mary Jane Harrelson (4:07.37), Dulce Maria Rodriguez (15:22.26), and Weldon Johnson (28:10.14). Clay Schwabe (3:41.79) edged Canadian prep sub-4 miler Nathan Brannen (3:41.80) in the metric mile, while Ohmori Terukazu took the men's 5000 in 13:50.07.

June 24 -- New Balance Boston I High Performance Meet
Lubert Lewis (1:46.72 800), Laura Baker (16:03.15 5000), and Ian Carswell (13:54.24) all set new meet records at the first stop on the Olympic Year CanAm Circuit as 17 athletes surpass the US Olympic Trials qualifying standards in their event.

June 27 -- New Balance Boston II High Performance Meet
Despite late afternoon thunderstorms threatening to delay the meet, the skies cleared just in time to produce excellent distance running weather. Canadians Achraf Tadili (1:47.59 800) and Sarah Dillabaugh (9:08.05 3000) established new meet standards for Boston II.

July 1 -- New Balance Maine Distance Festival
Ethiopia's Derartu Tulu, the '92 Oly 10k champ, recorded a 2000 world leading 10,000 in 31:08.27 ahead of national records by Japan's Yuko Kawakami (31:09.46)and Mexico's Adriana Fernandez (31:10.12). Mark Croghan recorded a US leading 8:22.09 steeple, with Croghan, Michelle Ave (2:03.68), and Toshihiro Iwasa(13:42.79) setting meet records.

July 4 -- International de Demi-Fond
Boston's Jenn Toomey (2:03.58 800) and Mexico's Hector Torres (3:43.35 1500) lower meet records at the 4th stop on the 2000 Circuit.

July 7 -- McGill International Distance Classic
In ideal distance running conditions, Mexico's Adriana Fernandez lowers the5000 Meet Record to 15:16.45 and leads three other women under the Olympic "A" Standard, while Japan's Toshiro Iwasa (28:06.89 10,000) also notches an Olympic "A" Standard. Fernandez, Iwasa, Mexico's David Galvan (13:37.25 5000), and America's Amy Rudolph (4:10.33 1500) all recorded yearly leading marks for the 2000 CanAm Circuit.

July 3 -- New Balance Maine Distance Festival
For the second year in a row, Regina Jacobs drove home in a new car after setting a new American record -- this time a 2:31.80 1000meters. Other meet highlights included a 4:06.42 1500 by Marla Runyon and a 1:45.81 meet record performance in the 800 by Jess Strutzel.

Reebok Boston I High Performance Meet
Reebok Enclave teammates Miesha Marzell (2:02.37), Mike Schroer (1:47.63), and Andre Williams (7:57.35 3000) set new meet standards despite thunder storms early in the evening.

July 10 -- Reebok Boston II High Performance Meet
Robyn Meagher (4:08.53 1500), Marla Runyon (2:03.18 800), Mike Schroer (1:48.46800), Jason Lunn (3:41.37 1500), and Jason Balkman (14:06.91) all lower meet records at the second edition of this meet.

July 13 -- International de Demi-Fond
Canada's Robyn Meagher blazed a 4:06.79 1500 to clinch a spot on the Canadian World Champs squad, while Mexico's Adriana Fernandez (32:39.05 10,000) and America's Jim Sorenson (3:44.47 1500) and Pete Julian (7:56.29) join Meagher as new meet record holders.

July 16 -- McGill International Distance Classic
Despite warm conditions, Ireland's Mark Carroll (13:43.99) and Canada's Tina Connelly (15:44.46) record CanAm yearly leading marks, while America's Stephanie Best (4:08.72) continued an excellent year in the women's metric mile.

June 27 -- Boston I High Performance Meet
The steeplechasers lit up the track in the inagural CanAm meet, with Tony Cosey (8:31.59) edging Greece's George Yianellis (8:31.67) as 5 athletes slip under 8:40. Other highlights included wins in the 800s by Central Mass.'s Jennifer Lincoln (2:04.53) and Arkansas' Jeremy Huffman (1:48.57) and at 1500 by former Wisconsin star Claire Taylor (4:15.73).

June 30 -- Boston II High Performance Meet
With jumbo jets thundering overhead, Regina Jacobs rocketed to a 4:02.29 metric mile at the "track at the airport" -- one of the fastest times ever by an American on US soil. Stanford frosh Micheal Stember took the half mile in 1:48.34, while hometown hero Brian Baker (7:59.08) withstood a strong challenge by Scott Strand (8:01.18) over 3000.

July 4 -- New Balance Maine Distance Festival
Regina Jacobs celebrated the 4th of July with a bang by shattering the American 5000 record with a stellar 14:52.49 performance. Jason Pyrah (3:56.82) made history by becoming the first person to run sub-4 for the mile in the state of Maine as he led 7 under that magical barrier, while Canadian Cindy O'Krane (4:31.07) broke the women's meet record in the mile. Other meet records fell to Ian Carswell (13:43.83 5000) and George Yianellis (8:34.99 steeple).

July 7 -- International de Demi-Fond
Americans Pete Julian (7:59.45) and Scott Strand (7:59.47) battled to the wire over 3000, Canadian Diane Cummins (2:04.04) won an exciting women's 800 that featured four women finishing within 0.45 seconds, and Stanford's Mike Stember (1:47.11) edged a strong field in the men's half-mile.

July 10 -- McGill International Distance Classic
Meredith Rainey-Valmon (1:59.45) sped under the 2:00 minute barrier in the women's 800, while Irish star Mark Carroll (3:38.12) set a new meet record for 1500. Other highlights included Cindy O'Krane's (4:09.02) win in the women's metric mile and Jenn Rhines' 15:26.88 win over 5000.
